Raku Workshop

Start: throughout the year, provided that we're not yet fully booked.

Time: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Registration: individually or as a group.

Description: Raku, is a firing technique that is traditionally used in the Japanese Tea Ceremony most often in the form of tea bowls.

Our one day Raku courses are very popular, with most people returning again and again. It's an exciting day, where you're able to experience the whole firing process.

Come and discover the ancient Japanese process of beautiful raku fired ceramics. In just a few hours you can walk out the door with gorgeous pots, vases, cups or sculpture.

We have an interesting selection of specially made raku glazes. Painting, sponging, dipping and spraying are some of the application techniques that make this glazing process spontaneous and delightful to discover.

Program

  • Explanation based on practical examples and photographs.

  • Information on different raku glazing and naked raku technique.

  • Various decoration techniques.

  • The glazing of the biscuit-fired pieces.

  • Raku Firing, where you learn independently how to load and unload the kiln.

Location: The charming atmosphere of De Stadshoeve, an organic farm on the outskirts of Amsterdam.

No biscuit-fired pieces?

It would be nice if you have a small selection of bisc fired work, otherwise we can supply this at a small cost. Or you can join one of my ceramic classes to create some.

Note: Places are limited, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

You can find the available dates here. But if you sign up with a group (of at least 12 people), you can apply for other days outside that schedule.
