Let's Make an Udu

Another two-day ceramics workshop

In case you've missed this workshop last year, this is your chance; Susan Melo organizes another new workshop at Keramiek Atelier Patty Schilder during the weekend of 24 & 25 October 2020.

The udu is a drum made of clay that originates from Nigeria. This musical instrument was developed by the women of the Igbo people, who inhabit the eastern part of the country. 

​

In this workshop you'll build an udu in the traditional way; using old modeling techniques combined with Susans knowledge of various ancient decoration techniques.

 

The udu will be finished at the end of day 2 and will be ready to be fired after a few weeks.
